First journal taking shape

Posted by Peta Hopkins on January 19, 2007

If you have visited ePublications@ Bond recently you may have noticed that the first e-journal is now listed under Journals and Peer-reviewed series. Revenue Law Journal is starting to take shape with some of the pages about the journal now appearing. There is still some tidy-up to do with links and preparation for the journal articles to be uploaded.

Early days, but interesting to see how a journal can fit into Bond’s repository.

“The major aim of the project is to develop the world’s largest communication medium for scientific knowledge products which is freely accessible to the public. A key challenge of the project is to support the rapidly growing number of movements and archives who admit the free distribution and access to scientific knowledge.” — website

Scientific Commons provides a simple search interface and a clean display of records with links to the originating repository. It also provides citation downloads in EndNote and Bibtex formats. There are currently 841 repositories from 48 countries. It seems that there will be some development of interesting personalization services, including customised RSS feeds and researcher profiles that will enable the researcher to group together articles deposited in different institutional repositories.
